This training was organised to be highly participatory in nature. Participants engaged in work on specific topics, and discussions focused on the benefits of taking an inter-institutional and inter-sectoral dialogue approach to water management and climate change adaptation.
Training participants, who were in general involved in integrated water management, included young water management experts and representatives of national water authorities, institutions and NGOs from the MENA region, in particular from Jordan and Tunisia.
The training aimed to:
- build the capacities of young water professionals and representatives of national water authorities, institutions and NGOs from the MENA region (in particular Jordan and Tunisia) to work with innovations in water management practice at national and international level, acquire knowledge about water policy and diplomacy, and learn about European good practices in water management;
- ensure a common understanding of WATER POrT forthcoming actions and activities and contribute to their implementation in Jordan and Tunisia;
- foster mutual relations and cooperation at both national and international level; and
- develop conditions for further activities in the field of IWRM in accordance with the specific needs of each country.
